Artistic Director Anna Olejnicki established Hype Dance Company in 2004 as a Dance Education Company. The company moved to its existing studio base in the heart of Sheffield in 2010, close to the City’s many shops, restaurants & theatres, and is a very short walk from the bus, tram & train transport interchanges.
The company’s ethos is inclusive dance tuition and training, achieving the highest standards of dance education possible. Each individual student is nurtured through their training in a caring and supportive environment.
The Company has an existing Dance Academy, which is accredited by the Council for Dance Education and Training (CDET) as a centre for pre-vocational dance. People come for dance tuition in a range of styles for fun and exercise, or to take examinations with the RAD, IDTA and BATD. Alongside this the Outreach Company delivers dance workshops, lectures and performances across the country in schools, colleges and educational settings.
Hype Dance Company is highly regarded in the dance industry, and has a teaching faculty, who are all specialists in their fields. From accomplished performers, to teachers and examiners, the staff are at the forefront of the dance world and passing this knowledge on is what they do best.
The part-time programme is a Hype Dance initiative that offers high quality vocational dance training to prepare students for a career in dance. The course was the first of its kind with a unique two strand pathway.
