Hype Dance Academy Sheffield
Hype Dance Company offers a wide range of dance classes though the academy – and not just in Hiphop dance. Hype offers dance classes & lessons in Hiphop, street, breakdance, ballet, jazz, tap & modern. Students are taken from as young as 3 for some subjects, and there’s no upper age limit. Throughout the week there are classes for children, young people and adults. The atmosphere is relaxed, there’s no expectations on ability, and all tutors work to develop students – not just teach them! Many people have made good friends as a result of coming to class.
All tutors are qualified industry professionals, read more about them on the tutors page! Private lessons are available with every tutor in the daytime or evening. We regularly have visiting tutors to guest teach including Firefly the UK’s number one Bgirl, Sammy Palmer established Breaker, James Kaviani from Dance 2XS, and in association with Danceworks UK professional workshops from Vincent Dance Theatre, Australian Dance Theatre, Ultima Vez, Renegade Dance Theatre, Robert Hylton Urban Classicism and Protein Dance.
Students are encouraged to thinking and developing creatively as well as being taught choreography. They are shown video reference and given points to go away and research further if they wish to develop their understanding.
There’s the opportunity to take part in performance and events through being a students at Hype Dance Academy. Recent events across the city that students have been involved in include: City Lights Switch On, AbFab Fashion Show, Sheffield Sharks Basketball Dance Crew, Chance 2 Dance, The Moor Fashion Event, Blue Room Charity Fashion Show, Children’s Festival, Fright Night and Kirklees Dance Festival over in Huddersfield.
Some classes are exam classes where students can take an exam through the British Association of Teachers of Dancing (BATD), an exam board recognised by the Council for Dance Education and Training. Exam classes are split into Grades, not ages, so it’s best to call to check if the class would be suitable.
